It comes complete with eight (8) total doors, including four (4) feeder doors, one (1) large front access door, one (1) platform door that folds downward, one (1) nest box or breeder box door, and one (1) roof opening door that leads to the upper play area. Each feeder door is equipped with its own ten ounce (10 oz) stainless steel feeder cup, for a total of four (4) feeder cups. They will surely become your pet’s favorite during snack time! The front door, feeder doors, and roof door on the SLF 2818 are secured with bird-proof locks that are installed on the outside so that your pet cannot reach them. The aviary measures (17.75) inches long, by (27) inches wide, by (56.2) inches tall. The total height increases to (62) inches when the top roof door is opened for accessing the play area. The inside dimensions for your bird to move around are (17.125) inches long, by (26.75) inches wide, by (28.25) inches tall. The large front access door measures (14.25) inches tall and (8.625) inches wide. The fold-down platform door measures (4.5) inches tall and (14.25) inches wide. The top roof door measures (14) inches wide and (13) inches deep. The entire cage weighs (55) pounds, making it fairly easy for most adults to move around or relocate if needed.
As Bonka Bird Toys stresses with any bird cage, you should consider the bar thickness and bar spacing to determine if the aviary will make a suitable home for your pet. You must make sure that your pet bird isn’t able to stick their neck through the bars and possibly become stuck. For the SLF 2818, the bar spacing is one-half of an inch (½”), and the bar thickness is 2 mm. This makes the SLF 2818 suitable for most medium sized birds. Some species you might consider housing inside the SLF 2818 include Pionus, Conures, Caiques, Jardings, Cockatiels, Parakeets, and Ringnecks.
